Unusual bronze Goat by Josef Pallenberg.

Josef Pallenberg, animal sculptor, was born in Germany in 1882 and died in 1946. 

At the Zoo Hagenbeck in Hamburg, he made the entrance sculptures. 

When he worked for the Zoo in Berlin, he studied the wild animals and started with the wildlife sculptures. 

At his home he had a small private zoo with tigers, bears and other wild and domestic animals.

He made study trips abroad including studies of the prehistoric animal world, in La Plata and in New York in 1909.

He made animal sculptures for the Zoo of Detroit and Cincinnati in the US.

Dimensions: Marble base: 34 cm x 14,5 cm. Bronze: Long: 30 cm, High: 14,5 cm, Wide: 10,5 cm.

Signed: "Jos Pallenberg".

This bronze is in very good condition.

Very high quality and nice warm brown patina, on its original marble base.
