Dog bust by Jean-Barnabé Amy
Wonderful, large bronze Dog bust by the French sculptor Jean-Barnabé Amy. (Tarascon 1839- Paris 1907).
This bronze "Chien de garde" is an unique sculpture.
Signed "Amy" and dated "1876". Very good original condition.
Measurements: 65 cm H, 33 cm L, 40cm W, Base: 22 cm x 22cm.
This bronze Dog bust has a very nice, warm green patination.
At the "Salon des artistes français in 1899", Amy represented a panel of masks in bronze. One of the masks represents this dog's head. See picture from the catalog.
He's present at different Salon des Arts à Paris.
In 1909, his son donates about 100 sculptures to the Museum of Marseille. (Musée de Marseille)
